Next, mark your calendars to join us at the San Diego County AIS Office for our annual Birthday Celebration fundraising event on May 25, 2024, from 1pm to 4pm. Three speakers (Al-Anon, Alateen, and Spanish-speaking Al-Anon) will share their experiences, strengths, and hopes. The office will be open for literature sales, and we will have two birthday cakes! We hope to see you there.

Finally, please consider participating in service above the group level. Service is the heart of Al-Anon, and we need your voice at the table. If your Group does not have a GR or an ISR, please discuss this in your next business meeting and encourage participation.

Our AIS Office Assistant, Rina, will celebrate her one-year work anniversary on March 21st. If you have a chance, please take a moment to thank Rina — we are grateful for her excellent work in helping the office run smoothly!

Thank you to all those involved in the recent “GleeAnon” Musical fundraising event. It was fun and highly entertaining and truly showcased the talents of many of our Al-Anon friends. Thank you to everyone who contributed and to everyone who showed up to enjoy the show.

And, speaking of events, please SAVE THE DATE for the AIS Office’s annual Birthday Celebration fundraising event on May 25, 2024. A flyer with full details is available.

Dear Al-Anon Friends,

We are excited to announce the upcoming GleeAnon Al-Anon Musical - a fundraising event supporting our San Diego County Al-Anon Information Service Office (SDC AISO). This event occurs on February 24, 2024, at 7:00 PM in Del Mar. Details are outlined in the Calendar of Events below and the attached flyer. Please join us for an evening of fun, fellowship, and surprises!

The SDC AISO board would like to encourage all San Diego service area groups to participate in decisions impacting the local office and its outreach efforts by having a dedicated Information Service Representative (ISR). ISRs are the conduit for information between the SDC AISO board and your Group. If your Group does not have an ISR, please discuss this in your next business meeting and encourage participation. The commitment is only 90 minutes six times a year on a Saturday morning. We need valuable input from the Groups and hope to see more ISRs at the March 9, 2024 meeting.

Dear San Diego County Al-Anon Members,

Happy New Year - and welcome to 2024! I’d like to thank the following members who are stepping down fromthe Board after completing several years of service: Kelly SH (Ex-Officio), Kristen S (Office Chair) and Hilda A (Spanish Liaison). We are truly grateful for their service.

Moving forward, there are several changes on the Board (as noted above in the 2024 Service Board List). In addition to those members who continue to serve in their current roles, several new board members were elected by the ISRs at the November 2023 meeting. And, because there were not enough candidates to fill all the open Board positions, at the January meeting, the Board appointed four members to fill those roles on an interim basis - Chair, Treasurer, Web Coordinator, and Spanish Liaison. We are grateful to all those who have stepped up for Board service.

Kudos also to the fabulous team who keep everything on track, on time and moving forward at the San Diego Al-Anon/Alateen Information Service office. Thank you to Rina (Office Assistant), to Steph (IT) and to Laura H (Interim Office Manager). I look forward to working with the Board and this great administrative team throughout the coming year.

Finally, there are two important events coming up (please see flyers for full details):

• Southern California World Service Area’s Sharing of Service Workshop on Saturday, January 20th from 9AM to 4PM. Tom Coffey, Associate Director of Literature at the WSO will be the featured speaker and the workshop is a great way to meet new friends while learning about opportunities for service. This is an on-line event with Spanish translation.

• Our very own GleeAnon takes place Saturday, February 24. This fundraising event supports the San Diego Al-Anon/Alateen Information Service (SD AIS) office and Public Outreach. Please join us and have some laughs while supporting local outreach!

We cannot operate in 2024 without a Chair and Treasurer.

If you have at least two years in Al-Anon and are not also a member of AA, you can be of service to our AIS Board. We meet monthly online on the second Saturday of the month. Please visit San Diego Al-Anon website and click San Diego Board Positions under Resources for descriptions.

The Southern California World Service (SCWS) Group Representatives (GRs) voted at the November 2022 Assembly to accept electronic meetings within our Southern California geographic area.

Per WSO and SCWS, if your meeting is listed as a Temporary Electronic Meeting (TEM), it is time to either return to in-person meetings or change your location to an Electronic Group (EG). This is a location change only, and your group remains connected to the same city, state, zip code, district, and Al-Anon Information Service (AIS).

Dear Grateful Al-Anon Members,

Your San Diego Al-Anon/Alateen Information Service office and board have been working hard this year on making Al-Anon and Alateen more accessible via our website and social media, establishing new meetings, and creating awareness to more diversified communities through public outreach and events. Your contributions are critical for our continued expansion.

In September, we launched our Non-Event Fundraiser, designed to be a personal contribution of gratitude to our local office. Even if you have already sent a contribution, we ask you to consider an additional contribution, as our goal for this appeal has not yet reached what we had hoped.
