Chair Message
“Every group ought to be fully self-supporting ...”
2022-2025 Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual p.18
Our San Diego Al-Anon Information Service Office (AIS) counts on your financial support. Are you a "12 Stepper?" The 12 Steppers are Al-Anon/ Alateen members who practice the principles of Al-Anon bysupporting the San Diego (AIS) Office with a monthly tax-deductible donation. Donations can be made here:
https://www.alanonsandiego.org/contributions
Donating a more generous monthly amount makes a consistent income possible for our office to count on. I have donated online as a "12 Stepper" for many years and give cash donations to my home meeting, "To cover group expenses, purchase of literature, and support of our service arms." Will you join me with your generosity?
Additionally, Al-Anon and Alateen's Birthday Celebration is on May 31, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm at the San Diego (AIS) Office in the gazebo. Two 20-minute speakers, a cake, and discounted literature will be for sale.
You can also donate on our website. Please contribute in gratitude for what you've gained in Al-Anon and celebrate with others Al-Anon's 74th and Alateen's 68th birthdays!
Thank you for your continued service financially!

VICE-CHAIR MESSAGE
Dear fellow Al-Anon & Alateen Members,
It's going to be May, and you know what that means—it's time to celebrate Al-Anon's 74th and Alateen's 68th birthdays!
Please join us on Saturday, May 31st, from 1pm to 4pm under the Gazebo at the San Diego Office in Mission Valley to celebrate the program that has given us so much. Two wonderful speakers will be on hand, and, of course, cake will be served!
The office will also be open for all your literature needs, so bring a chair and come down to the most serene party of the year!
If you can, please consider contributing to support the AIS Board. The board's members are working hard to spread the message through outreach to Alateen and the community. Contributions can be made online at www.alanonsandiego.org.
Grateful to be of service,
Alexa C.

Ex-Officio Message
In March 2025, the ISRs voted to move forward with a By-Law Review process, including creating a Board Procedures & Policies Manual. After seeking proposals and referrals from several sources, the Board has engaged a nonprofit consultant, David Styers, to guide this project.
David has requested a By-Law Review Task Force of 5 to 7 representative Al-Anon members to work together on the review and manual creation process. The AIS Office Board has named the following three board members to the task force: Chair, ex-officio, and Historian & Nominations Chair. The Board is seeking four long-time Al-Anon Members (two ISRs and two members-at-large) with service experience beyond the group level to participate on the task force.
The goal is to complete this project by the end of this calendar year, so we need to get started! Please contact Cindi H at [email protected] with expressions of interest by the end of business day on April 30, 2025.
Thank you for supporting your Al-Anon San Diego AIS Office Board!

Message From Your Board
Chair Message
Dear Friends of the Worldwide Fellowship of Al-Anon,
What is something you remember that was important when you were a newcomer?
What stands out to me is the Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature (CAL). A few special pieces that spoke to me then and still do today are One Day at a Time in Al-Anon (ODAT) (B6), one of the daily readers, Just for Today Al-Anon bookmark (M12), and Understanding Ourselves and Alcoholism (P48), a pamphlet that is also in the 2022-2025 Al-Anon/Alateen Service Manual pages 21-23.
Purchasing Al-Anon and Alateen CAL from our San Diego Office is one way to support our local office financially. There are so many wonderful pieces of literature to choose from! Why not purchase and read a book that’s new to you and then lead a meeting on it? You’d benefit yourself, your meeting, and the Al-Anon office – a win-win!
Please read the information about “Help with Keeping Meeting Information Up-to-Date” at your meetings about group changes and the Vice Chair’s message about the upcoming celebration/fundraising events.
Thank you, members of Al-Anon, and keep coming back.
With gratitude and In service,
Sherry M.
Board Chair
Web-coordinator Message
Are you reasonably tech-savvy, customer service, and detail-oriented and have about an hour weekly (more for monthly Board meetings and annual changeover) to support the IT and web aspects of our small local Al-Anon Information Service office and our robust board?
Please consider joining the board as Web Coordinator (really IT coordinator). Requirements: a regular and brief weekly check-in with our IT/web contractor, knowledge to oversee our office and board’s confidential
Google Workspace, and, if needed, update and even guide the migration of our Squarespace and WordPress websites. Access to Chrome is recommended.
Guiding the maintenance of our well-crafted website can provide your fellow members and newcomers with access to vital support information, meeting lists, event calendars, and other resources while gaining useful service beyond the group, plus leadership and teamwork experience.
Being a co-administrator of Google Workspace ensures that our part-time staff, board and volunteers receive technical assistance to maintain organized, accessible documents for the continuity of service to our groups and community.
If interested, please contact the current Web/IT coordinator, Mary N of San Diego, at [email protected] .
Position available late 2025 or January 2026. The transition date is flexible. *FLYER*
