Message From Your Board

Chair message

Dear San Diego Al-Anon Friends,

As we move through this new year together, I am filled with gratitude for the different perspectives that each of you brings to this fellowship. Our community is stronger because of your participation, your service, and your continued commitment to carrying the message of Al-Anon across San Diego County.

If you are looking to deepen your program through service, consider joining the AIS Service Board as our new Secretary. This is a meaningful role that is well-suited for a detail-oriented member who values written communication and wants to contribute beyond their home group. The Secretary plays a central role in keeping our board connected, organized, and accountable — compiling meeting minutes, producing monthly reports, and helping ensure the continuity of our service work.

If you are someone who takes careful notes, communicates clearly in writing, and can commit to about an hour per week plus our monthly Board and bi-monthly ISR meetings, we would love to hear from you. A flyer with more details is included in this issue.

Participation is the key to harmony <3

With gratitude,

Alexa C, Board Chair

HELP WITH KEEPING MEETING INFORMATION UP TO DATE

Are you rotating out of service or volunteering as a new representative for your group as a Group Representative (GR), an Intergroup Service Representative (ISR), or a new Current Mailing Address (CMA)?

The WSO states that all group changes must be made through the Southern California World Service Office (SCWS), which will then notify the San Diego Area Information Service Office. When updating information for a new (GR), an (ISR), or a new (CMA), it is essential to add the new information and ask that the old information be removed! Click the following link to check and update your groups’ information: https://scws-al-anon.org/al-anon-group-change-form/.

We currently have 168 registered Al-Anon and Alateen groups in San Diego and only 67 registered ISRs. Please, consider volunteering for this important service position. If you have any questions, you can contact me at [email protected].

With gratitude,

Sherry M., Ex-Officio, 2026 San Diego AIS Board
