Message From Your Board

Chair Message

Dear San Diego Al-Anon Friends,

I would like to thank Alexa, Vice-Chair, for her hard work in executing a successful Fundraiser and Al-Anon and Alateen Birthday Celebration for the San Diego Al-Anon Office on May 31, and Katrina, Office Chair, for organizing volunteers to assist with literature sales and creating a photo booth with fun props. Donations for the office exceeded our budget expectations! Thanks to everyone who generously supported this fundraiser.

Elections for our San Diego Service Board are approaching soon. If you have been an ISR, a GR, or have been an active Al-Anon member for at least two years and are not a member of AA, please consider running for a board position. You can find position descriptions on www.alanonsandiego.org under “Resources,” or you can reach out to Edna M, our Historian and Nominations Chair, at [email protected], for more information. The service board oversees the activities of our San Diego AIS Office, which also acts as our local Literature Distribution Center, to ensure information is always available for those who need the support of Al-Anon and Alateen.

In service and with gratitude,

Sherry M.

Board Chair

EX-officio MESSAGE

Did you know there are 158 voting groups in San Diego, and of that total, only 55 groups have registered Information Service Representatives (ISRs)?

The SD County AIS Office Board Bylaws require a quorum of two-thirds of registered ISRs to be in attendance at an ISR meeting to do business. Based on the current number of 55 registered ISRs, we must have at least 37 ISRs (or their registered alternate) attending a meeting for a vote to be valid.

We have been very close to missing that number at the last 2 ISR meetings!

ISRs are THE vital communication link between the SD AIS Office Board and your SD Al-Anon Groups. If you haven’t already done so, please encourage your group to appoint an ISR and an alternate. If you are an ISR, please ensure that you attend meetings. Knowing that life can sometimes intervene, ask your Group to have a registered alternate who can attend in your absence.

ISR meetings are held on Saturdays from 10:30am-11:45am every odd-numbered month throughout the year. The next meeting is July 12, 2025. Please consider this important service for your Group. YOUR VOICE AND VOTE ARE NEEDED!

Please see the ISR Flyer in English and Spanish

Thank you!

Cindi, Ex-Officio
